two updates in just a couple of days!

This is our favorite baby invention, a mei tai.. I swear it is sprinkled with sleepy dust, because she passes out in it almost right away.

Look how good I am, doing two updates within a couple days of each other! It's only because I forgot to mention she is teething! She has been getting a tooth for about two weeks now, and it is being a stubborn little think and won't fully cut. She has been a trooper though, and besides being a little congested and whining a little, she has still been her little angel self! Lucky us! And now for your viewing enjoyment, a couple videos of our cutie pie!

Where does the time go?

It is unreal to think that Brinn is over 3 months old now! It seems like just yesterday that we were planning for her arrival! She is getting cuter and cuter everyday, and it's so fun to watch all the things she is accomplishing. She smiles and laughs like crazy, and is getting closer and closer to sitting up on her own.
I am heading back to work in a couple weeks, which I have mixed feelings about. On the one hand, it will be very nice to get back into the swing of things, and speak to grownups everyday! But on the other hand, I can't imagine not spending my whole day with her. Luckily, she will be staying with Grandma Elaine, so I know she is in wonderful hands. They have had a couple practice days, and both baby and Grandma are handling it way better than Mommy! Hahaha...
Wedding planning is in full force now, and it is so fun! We have gotten a ton accomplished - we've ordered the cake, flowers, and have our photographer. Woo woo!
We can't wait for summer - our pool just got cleaned, and we are all itching to go in! Baby has the cutest swimsuits, and I want us all to be TAN for the wedding (not Brinn of course!).
I will try to be better about updating the blog, but here are some pictures to hold everyone over!

oh, I love naked babies...

2 months old, plus a whole lot of other stuff!

Man, I have been slacking on this blog!! Brinn is 2 months old today, which is hard to believe! She is such a delight to be around.. every day there are new joys (and challenges!!). We have been quite lucky, and she's a pretty good sleeper. Not sleeping through the night yet, but we get good 4 hour chunks, she eats, and then goes right back down. We even got a 6 hour stretch once! She also has been smiling and laughing pretty regularly now, which just melts our heart! Unfortunately, Brett and I both caught colds, and we thought she had escaped it, but last night she came down with it too, and it is the hardest thing ever to see her not feeling well. But we're cuddling and loving on her, as well as using a ton of steam to clear her up, so hopefully she will get better soon.

I am going a little stir crazy at home, so I joined a play group, which has been a lot of fun. She had her first baby playdate, which was cuteness overload. She was all googly eyes and cooing, especially over this adorable 4 month old little boy named Lincoln (so young, and already into the boys.. hahaha...). I was too busy watching her and enjoying it to take pictures, but I defenitely will at the next one. We were supposed to go to one today, but that's out of the question. Soon, and you all will get to see how big she is!

Speaking of how big she's getting - I just got a new digital camera, and in an effort to rekindle my photography passion, I am working on something called the 365 project. I take a picture of her every day for a year, and see how much she's changing! I'll post some of my favorites here. I also realize I never put up Xmas pictures (told you I was slacking!), so there will be a ton of pictures to enjoy this time around! I will make an effort to keep more up to date!

We also started officially planning the wedding! Hooray! Once we have the venue secured, I will post pictures of that as well. We are hoping to do it at one of our favorite wineries in Paso Robles - Eberle. Paso holds a special place in our hearts for a lot of rasons, but it was the first trip we went on together, and the first place we said "I love you" to each other. I know, we are totally cheesy! Ha!

On to the pictures already!

what can I say, I love her feet!

This is my favorite hat of hers.. I'm not so sure she agrees!

Brinn is such a big girl!

Our "big girl" is now three weeks (and one day!!) old.. I can't even believe it! Life has not been the same since she came (I know, I know, everyone tells you this, but you can't understand it until you experience it for yourself!). She is a pretty happy baby for the most part. She likes to party at night as her most alert time seems to be from 12a-4am.. does not make for a good nights sleep for mommy, but luckily daddy does all he can (now if he could just develop the ability to breastfeed, life would be great!! hahaha..). We haven't had luck getting her to enjoy bath time, so we tried putting her in the bath with me while I took one, and she loved it! So that will be our new routine.. here's some pictures of it!

Brinn is all dressed and ready to go home.

Brinn is packed into her car seat for her first car ride home. Luckily the weather let up while we were on the road so it was clear while we drove home and then started pouring after we were safely inside.

Brinn comes home. Look at those big ole snow boots!

Our first Family Photos

Brinn is born! 1:57am. 11/26/2009.

Our first family photo. Daddy is holding the Camera.

Brinn is cleaned off and meets a few doctors, but has time to hold Daddy's Hand.

Brinn gets to spend time with Mommy after the Doctors tell us she is A-ok!

A gift from Grandma on Thanksgiving. Brinn's First Turkey! We put this on her bassinet while she was in the hospital.

Meet Brinn Madison Williams

Brinn was born on November 26th, at 1:57am. She was 19 inches long and weighed in at 6 pounds, 14 ounces.

Our little thanksgiving baby is here after all! She did know about the induction and didn't want to put mama through that! I mean, there was still a lot of intervention, but not technically an induction!
Tuesday I started having regular contractions but very bearable so we walked several miles in an attempt to keep things progressing. We went to the doctor and she said that since the pain was still so minor, to go home and keep trying. We had an appt the next morning (weds) which they told us to keep, so we kept at everything and in the middle of the night I started getting good strong contractions, so I figured we were getting things going. By the time we got to our appt at 10am, I was contracting very regularly and it was really painful. The doctor said to go to labor and delivery where he figured we'd be staying.
I was only 2 cm at that point and in agony, and when the doctor did my exam, she said there was a ton of scar tissue on my cervix that she was going to have to break up with her hand in order for me to progress but thought it was time for the epidural in order to make that doable.. So in went the epidural! Which is the best medical advancement ever made! Haha! We did have a bit of a scare when it went in because my blood pressure dropped to 50 and baby's heartbeat got low. They gave us epinephrine in the iv and everything was good.
The pain of labor went away after this. It was crazy how hard those few hours had been up to now and how relaxed I became even though the contractions were only getting stronger. The doctor came in after a few more min and began working on my cervix scar tissue and broke my water. I was approx 3cm dialated after this and pitocin was being administered. After another couple of hours I was 5cm dialated and it seemed like things were stalling for a while after that. I stayed at 6cm for a long time, the nurse started turning me every 30 min around 9pm, because Brinn's heart rate kept dropping, and she was also hoping this would give the cervix the push it needed. I think this was the key because the next time they checked me I was 10cm. I was shocked to hear this because we'd heard the number 6 so many times I was expecting them to schedule a c section any minute. It was about 20 min later they had me start pushing andI actually had to stop puching, because Dr. Hannah hadn't made it back to the hospital yet. It is NOT easy to stop pushing during contractions, especially since the epidural had worn off! It took about 30 min total for Brinn to come out. Maybe an hour from when they found the 10cm cervix till when I delivered. The first thing I said (after "she's beautiful" of course!) was - "That was easy.. We can do THAT again!" Hahaha.. My favorite moment was watching Brett look at his baby girl with tears in his eyes, and hear him tell her how much he loved her. Best feeling ever to know how much this little miracle means to both of us. After 9.5 long months (okay, so we only really had to go through 6ish months because we were already in the second trimester when we found out... ha!), and now she's here sleeping quietly...most of the time.
